Long Earrings, Measured Rather Than Described
Most shops call an earring long and leave it there. Every pair in this collection is measured, and nothing under 50 mm is here. The range runs from a 50 mm pearl threader to a 100 mm feather, in 925 sterling silver, assembled at our Sheikh Zayed Road studio. Each product page carries its exact drop in millimetres, its weight per pair in grams, and its fitting — so you know what will hang at your jaw before you order.
Length Guide — Where Each Drop Falls
Drop length is measured from the top of the fitting to the lowest point of the design. Where that lands on you is the whole decision:
- 50–55 mm — at the jaw. The most wearable long earring. Reaches the jawline, reads as considered rather than dramatic, and works through a workday.
- 56–66 mm — below the jaw. The drop clears the face and swings. This is where a long chain earring or a linear bar design sits.
- 67–80 mm — toward the collarbone. A long statement earring. Best worn alone, with a bare neckline and hair up.
- Above 80 mm — extra long. Full shoulder-skimming length. Our extra long silver earrings reach 100 mm and are, deliberately, among the lightest we make.
For shorter drops between 12 mm and 46 mm, see our drop and dangle earrings.
Long Earrings for Women
Every pair here is made for a woman's ear, and the choice comes down to how much length you want to carry through the day.
- Everyday — ladies' long earrings at 50 to 55 mm, light enough to forget and quiet enough for a working day.
- Evening — big long earrings above 65 mm, worn alone so the length leads.
- Teardrop — long teardrop earrings, a single stone suspended on a straight drop, the most classic of the shapes here.
- Gifting — long drop earrings for women need no size guessing, which makes them one of the easier jewellery gifts to get right.
Silver long earrings for women run from 155 to 687 AED across this collection, in sterling silver and 18K gold vermeil over a 925 core. If you are looking for long silver earrings for women as a gift, the 50 to 60 mm band is the safest place to start — long enough to read as considered, short enough to suit almost anyone.
Choosing by Face & Hair
With hair down — stay between 50 and 60 mm, where the drop still clears the hairline and frames rather than hides.
With hair up or swept back — anything above 65 mm has room to move, and the length becomes the point.
With short hair or a bob — large earrings and short hair suit each other. Nothing competes with the drop, so a wider, longer design carries the whole look on its own.
With an abaya or shayla — length is what makes an earring visible at all. A 55 to 70 mm drop sits below the jawline where a stud would disappear, adding light without altering the line of the garment.
Fittings — Post Back, Hook & Huggie
A long earring puts more leverage on the piercing than a short one, so the fitting matters more:
- Post back — a straight post through the lobe with a butterfly or push back. Ten designs here use it, at drops up to 80 mm. These are the long earrings studs people look for: full length, fixed at a single flush point.
- Extra long post — a longer post clears a thicker lobe without pinching, which is what to look for if standard studs sit tight.
- Shepherd & French hook — a curved wire through the piercing. The lightest option and the easiest on, used on most of the longer chain and feather designs.
- Hinged huggie — a small closed hoop at the lobe carrying the drop below. The most secure of the three for a heavier or longer piece.
Styles Across the Collection
- Chain & cascade — long chain earrings built from graduated strands that fall at different lengths and move independently.
- Threader — a fine chain pulled through the piercing and left to hang, the most weightless way to wear real length.
- Bar & linear — a long bar earring in a single clean vertical line, the most architectural shape here at 66 mm.
- Chandelier — tiered and wider at the base, in hand-blown Murano glass at 80 mm.
- Plumb line — one stone suspended on a straight drop, in white marble or sunset onyx.
- Feather — the extra long tier, 100 mm of fine silver and a single crystal bead.
Stones, Crystal & Pearl
Length gives a stone somewhere to move, which is why long gemstone earrings catch light in a way a stud cannot. Across this collection:
- Crystal — long crystal earrings set with Swarovski beads on seven fine wires, and faceted crystal on the feather drops.
- Cubic zirconia — pavé-set along serpent and cascading star designs.
- Pearl — simulated and shell pearl on the pull-through threader.
- Natural stone — amethyst, snow quartz, yellow carnelian, turquoise and onyx, each named on its product page.
Where a stone is simulated, lab-grown or a glass bead, we say so on the piece. Two designs are offered in 18K gold vermeil over a 925 core, described as vermeil and never as solid gold. We do not present one material as another.
Evening, Wedding & Occasion
Length is what makes an earring photograph. Long bridal earrings frame the face in a way a stud cannot, and a long silver earring for a wedding reads as considered without competing with the dress. For a formal evening, a single long statement pair on a bare neckline does more than a full set. Ready-to-wear pairs held in stock qualify for same-day delivery across Dubai, confirmed on WhatsApp.
Care for Longer Drops
- Store long earrings hanging, or laid flat and separately, so chains and threaders do not tangle.
- Keep the polishing cloth to the silver, not to glass, enamel or a natural stone.
- Let perfume and oud settle before putting earrings on, rather than after.
- Remove them before the pool, the sea and the gym.
Fuller guidance sits on our silver jewellery care page.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long should drop earrings be?
It depends where you want the eye to land. Under 30 mm sits on the lobe and reads as everyday. From 50 to 60 mm the drop reaches the jawline and frames the face. From 60 to 80 mm it clears the jaw and moves with you. Above 80 mm the earring falls toward the collarbone and becomes the whole look. Every pair here is 50 mm or longer, and each product page states its exact drop in millimetres.
What length of earring suits my face and hair?
Length is a framing decision more than a face-shape rule. A 50 to 60 mm drop lengthens a rounder face and sits well against a bob. Above 65 mm the drop reads best with hair up or swept back, where it has room to move. With short hair a longer, wider earring has nothing competing with it and carries the look on its own — which is why large earrings and short hair pair so well.
Are long earrings heavy or uncomfortable?
Length and weight are not the same thing. Our longest pair, a 100 mm feather, is among the lightest we make, because the drop is built from fine silver and a single crystal bead rather than solid metal. Chain cascades and threaders distribute weight down the strand instead of concentrating it at the lobe. Each product page lists weight per pair in grams.
Do long earrings stretch your ears?
Weight causes stretching, not length. A light long earring is gentler on the piercing than a short heavy one. If you wear long earrings often, choose a pair under about 6 grams, favour designs where the weight sits low on a chain rather than at the ear, and give the piercing a rest between long wears.
What is the difference between drop and dangle earrings?
A drop hangs on a fixed length below the lobe with little movement. A dangle swings freely from the fitting. Both describe how the earring moves rather than how far it falls, which is why we sort this collection by measured drop in millimetres instead. A 50 mm piece is long whether it is a rigid drop or a moving dangle.
Can I get long earrings with a post back instead of a hook?
Yes. Ten designs here use a post-and-butterfly or push-back fitting rather than a shepherd hook, including drops at 50, 65 and 80 mm. A post sits flush through the lobe and carries the drop from a fixed point, which many people find more secure than a hook — and an extra long post clears a thicker lobe without pinching. Closure type is listed on every product page.
Are 925 silver long earrings hypoallergenic?
Sterling silver is 92.5% silver alloyed with 7.5% copper and carries little or no nickel, which is why it suits sensitive ears. Many pairs here are rhodium-plated, adding a further barrier between fitting and skin. This lowers the likelihood of a reaction rather than removing it, so patch-test first if you have a diagnosed metal allergy.
Does silver tarnish in Dubai's humidity?
It can. Humidity, salt air and chlorine speed the surface reaction on the copper within sterling silver. Tarnish is not damage and lifts away with a soft cloth. Keep the cloth to the silver rather than to glass, enamel or a natural stone, store long earrings hanging or laid flat so chains do not tangle, and remove them before swimming.
